Tel Tzion

Tel Tzion, a suburb of Kochav Yaakov, is located 15 kilometers north of Jerusalem. It was established in 2000 to answer the needs of young Haredi couples looking for affordable suburban housing in the greater Jerusalem area.

The community includes a varied Haredi population including the Litvish, Chabad, Breslov and Hassidic communities. Olim from English-speaking countries and the FSU, amongst others, make up about 5% of the population. Half of the community is Sepharadi.

The Yishuv is slated to grow to a population of 35,000 people.

Community and Religious Life
There is a flourishing religious life in the Yishuv. Rabbi Kornreich, who is the Chief Rabbi of the Yishuv, frequently invites the entire community for Shabbat meals and Tisches (spiritual evenings). The many synagogues and Yeshivot in the Yishuv reflect the diversity of the residents. There are organized events within the community throughout the year, such as carnivals for children during Chol Hamoed.

Although the prominent rabbis in the Yishuv are not native English speakers, most speak and understand English and are welcoming to new Olim.

Real Estate
While the prices of real estate have risen since the Yishuv was founded, young couples can still find affordable housing.

An average 130 meter apartment/house starts at approximately 500,000 NIS.
