The Step-By-Step Aliyah Process
Nefesh B’Nefesh works in cooperation with the Jewish Agency for Israel to facilitate the Aliyah process through our joint application. The following is an overview of how to submit your application and required documents for Aliyah from North America, and the steps that follow.

Step 1
The Aliyah Application
8-10 months before your estimated Aliyah date, begin your Aliyah paperwork by completing the application.
You will be asked to upload copies of relevant documents which will be used to both determine your eligibility and your status with the Jewish Agency. Your Nefesh B’Nefesh advisor will be in touch with you throughout the process to ensure you are on the right track!
Step 2
Interview with an Aliyah Shaliach
As part of the Aliyah process, an interview with your local Aliyah Shaliach (a representative of the Jewish Agency for Israel) will be required. You will be asked to present original copies of your documents (see step 1) which will be returned to you during your meeting.
When all of your documents are ready and your application process is complete, your Aliyah advisor will contact the Jewish Agency to arrange an interview.
Step 3
Approval For Aliyah
The Jewish Agency for Israel will approve your Aliyah based on the criteria set by the Israeli government. They will let you know directly that you can make Aliyah and will confirm your status based on your family history.
After receiving Jewish Agency approval to make Aliyah, NBN will confirm your approval for services.
Step 4
Obtain Your Aliyah Visa
An Aliyah visa is required unless you hold an Israeli passport. Instructions for how to apply for a visa will be attached to your Aliyah approval email from the Jewish Agency. It can take 14 business days ( 18 days), or more, for the visa to be issued, depending on the time of year and where you live.
We recommend applying 1-2 months before your estimated departure. Once issued, the Aliyah visa is valid for 6 months.
Step 5
The Aliyah Flight
Nefesh B’Nefesh and the Jewish Agency for Israel’s flight benefit includes a one-way ticket on a Nefesh B’Nefesh scheduled flight.
When you receive your Aliyah flight benefit approval from the Jewish Agency, the Nefesh B’Nefesh Flights Department will reach out to you inviting you to make a flight request based on available flight options. Please review the flight schedule to determine what works best with your Aliyah plans.
