Steps to becoming a Bat Sherut
ABOUT ORI
Currently, over 200 girls from around the world are serving in Sherut Leumi as Bodedot (Lone Bnot Sherut), serving in various volunteer roles across Israel, including hospitals, schools, working with special needs, Magen David Adom, government offices, working as tour guides, and much more. Through Nefesh B’Nefesh, the Ori Program supports Lone Bnot Sherut every step of the way, serving as their advocate, guide, advisor, and mentor. We assist with adjusting to national service, arranging Shabbat placements, fostering community through social events, and providing bureaucratic support and essential information to navigate their new life in Israel. Additionally, we organize Yemei Iyun (study/informational sessions) on budget management, self-care while caregiving and life skills to empower Bnot Sherut for a positive service experience. We also offer guidance on post-service opportunities, such as higher education in Israel, facilitating a smooth transition into their next stage of life.
BEHIND THE NAME
Ori is named to honor the memory and legacy of Ori Ansbacher z”l.
She was known as a deeply giving young woman who saw the goodness and light in all that surrounded her. Ori was killed in a terror attack during her National Service. Through the Ori program for Lone Bnot Sherut, we will assist its volunteers to carry on her legacy through their service.
WHAT IS SHERUT LEUMI?
Sherut Leumi is a national service option for young adults, between the ages of 17-24, who choose not to serve in the IDF. Through the diverse placement options, participants in Sherut Leumi are afforded the opportunity to work intensively in a professional environment in Israel and, as a result, to learn about themselves, their capabilities, and explore fields of interest that may become long term career options.

UTILIZING ORI AND HERE NEXT YEAR
Ori is named to honor the memory and legacy of Ori Ansbacher z”l.
Nefesh B’Nefesh’s Ori and Here Next Year (HNY) programs serve two distinct purposes in facilitating Aliyah and integration into Israeli society. Ori focuses on providing support and guidance for Lone Bnot Sherut (national service volunteers) throughout their year of service, including advocacy, logistical aid, and informative sessions. On the other hand, HNY is designed to offer valuable resources and guidance for those planning Aliyah within the next one to three years, covering various aspects of the Aliyah process, including bureaucratic procedures, housing options, employment opportunities, and more.
