Choosing a Career – A Guide for Students
As most students enter college without a specific career path in mind, choosing a career is a multi-stage process that the majority of college students go through. For a student who is planning to include Aliyah in his or her future, there are additional considerations that are inherent in the process which often play a significant role in the outcome.
Computer Programming and IT

Hi-tech products and services account for more than a quarter of all Israeli exports and, after the US and Canada, Israel has more hi-tech companies trading on the NASDAQ than any other country.

Olim who come to Israel with experience in the construction or home repair business find that they have to relearn many aspects of the industry in order to re-establish themselves professionally. As local mores and standards are inherent to these businesses, it is important to become familiar with them.

I work as a data scientist/statistician at a large technology company. I have advanced graduate degrees and do a combination of exploratory general research (i.e., publishing externally) and trying to solve specific internal company data analytics problems. Data scientists vary in the type of work they do and in how directly applied the work is, which will depend on the size and nature of the company.
Degree Recognition
Academic: In order to pursue an advanced degree in Israel, you must submit your foreign degree to the Israeli university you wish to attend. Your degree will be evaluated. The universities have full academic freedom in this matter and are not subject to Misrad Hachinuch’s criteria.
Dental Hygienists
In order to be recognized as a dental hygienist in Israel, one must be licensed by Misrad HaBriut (Ministry of Health). In order to obtain a license you must: Meet the educational requirements of Misrad HaBriut, Pass the licensing examination.
