Bnot Sherut Bodedot

Program

In cooperation with various Sherut Leumi organizations in Israel, the Bnot Sherut Bodedot Program provides a vibrant community and essential support system for young women who choose to commit to a year of national service in Israel.

Bnot Sherut receive a number of benefits during their National Service. Some are specifically for Lone Bnot Sherut (Bodedot) Olot, given by the government to further assist them throughout their service.

Benefits for all Bnot Sherut

Housing

Most Bnot Sherut are entitled to live in shared apartments. In general, if you live close to home, you will not receive this benefit unless you work it out with your Rakezet (coordinator) and the organization for which you will be working.

For Bnot Sherut Bodedot (Lone National Service):
– Can request shared apartments specifically for Bodedot
– Apartments include: washing machine, oven, Wi-Fi
– If not placed in Bodedot housing, Sherut organizations will try to provide equivalent conditions
– Contact Bnot Sherut Bodedot Program for further assistance.

Transportation

All Bnot Sherut are entitled to free public transportation.
– Go to your local Rav Kav office with your Sherut Leumi card
– Inner-city & intercity unlimited rides for one year

Monthly Stipends (Dmei Kees)

– Standard range: 800–1145 NIS
– Bnot Sherut Bodedot typically receive: 1145 NIS
– Those not living in apartments may receive 100–150 NIS less

Vacation & Sick Days

– Vacation: 22 standard days
+15 extra vacation days for Bodedot to visit family abroad or spend time with them in Israel
Sick days: 20 per year (requires doctor’s note, otherwise considered vacation)

Support System

Rakezet (Coordinator): Supervisor and advisor, and is also the liaison between the volunteers and Sherut Leumi organizations.
Nefesh B’Nefesh (Bnot Sherut Bodedot Program): For Lone Bnot Sherut, additional support and personalized help.

With your Bat Sherut card, enjoy discounts at:
– Restaurants
– Cell phone carriers
– Movie theaters

Orayta: Bi-weekly shiurim and educational sessions for spiritual and personal growth.

Benefits Specifically for Bnot Sherut Bodedot

Misrad Haklita Monthly Stipend

– Amount: 540 NIS/month
– For Olot Chadashot Bodedot
– Requires Teudat Oleh + Sherut ID
– Must apply at Misrad H’Aliyah V’Haklita and present Teudat Oleh and Sherut Lemi ID card
– Must be renewed yearly

Housing Stipend (Misrad HaBinui V’HaShikun)

402 NIS/month (Aliyah before Mar 1, 2024)
750 NIS/month (Aliyah on/after Mar 1, 2024)

Important: After service, extension available for released Lone Bnot Sherut.

Post-Sherut Leumi Benefits

Ma’anak (Ministry of Defense)

4,585 NIS per year (up to 9,170 NIS for 2 years)
– Paid directly to Bat Sherut within 2 months of service end

Pikadon

6,642 NIS (1 year) / 13,285 NIS (2 years)
– Can be used within 5 years for: education, marriage, business
– Can be used for any purpose between 5–7 years after service

Eligibility

– Must have Ptor from the army by Sept 1st (or start of service)
– Must complete 12 full months of Sherut

Student Benefits

Student Authority Tuition Support:
– If they fulfill the criteria, Bnot Sherut Bodedot are eligible for the Student Authority Benefit
– If a Bat Sherut lives in the periphery (defined here), or intends to study in certain institutions in the periphery or Jerusalem, Misrad Habitachon (the Defense Ministry) will pay for 50% of tuition for the first year of her BA (according to what is known as the Periphery Law-see below)

  • Apply post-Sherut for full tuition coverage (Olim benefits)
  • Register with Minhal Hastudentim before studies begin to gain full support for future degrees
