Dental technicians aspiring to work in Israel must obtain a license from the Ministry of Health.

The following conditions must be met to be eligible:

Licensing Eligibility

  • No criminal record
  • Completion of Dental Technician training
  • Successful completion of government examinations
  • Israeli citizenship or permanent/temporary residency

Licensing Process (Overseas Graduates -Olim)

Applicants must include official confirmations of foreign employment, a professional license, and a certificate of good standing, addressing any license unavailability dates with an explanatory letter.

1. Junior Level:

  • Applicants with two to five years of experience must successfully pass the government licensing examination for dental technicians at the junior level. They must submit their examination registration application up to 30 days before the examination date, considering holidays and weekends.
  • Attachments required: two passport photos, photocopies of ID card (Teudat Zehut with Sefach), completed Questionnaire for professional employees in the healthcare field (HE), confirmation of course commencement and completion, and successfully passing the government licensing examination.
  • Olim who graduated abroad and have five years of experience in the profession – No licensing examination is required.

2. Senior Level:

  • Applicants with five to 10 years of experience in the profession should submit documents verifying their professional background and must successfully pass the government licensing examination at the senior level.
  • Olim who graduated abroad with senior diplomas or ten years’ experience – No licensing examination is required.

3. Specialist Level:

  • Applicants with 10 years of experience need to attach a senior-level diploma or relevant experience documents and must successfully pass the government licensing examination at the specialist level.

4. Master Level:

  • Experienced dental technicians with 15 years of experience in the profession and a diploma from abroad at the master’s level, which has been recognized by the Ministry of Health, do not require a licensing examination. They will need to submit the following documents: a master-level diploma, proof of professional experience, and confirmation of practical training.
  • For those with 15 years of experience without a foreign diploma, the requirements include submitting documents attesting to professional experience and successfully passing the government licensing examination at the master level.

Additional Guidelines

  • Keep copies of submitted documents; originals are not returned.
  • Attach official confirmations of employment, a license from the country studied/practiced, and a professional certificate of good standing.
  • Do not send original certificates; certified copies verified by a notary are accepted.
  • Documents that are not in Hebrew or English must be translated by an authorized translator in Israel.

Misrad Haklita Reimbursement for Documents

The Ministry of Aliyah and Integration is offering a retroactive reimbursement of up to 4000 NIS to Olim who were required to translate and/or notarize documents for the purpose of transferring their professional license in Israel. Please contact your local Misrad Haklita office for more information.

Please note the following conditions:

  • This can be done ONLY AFTER completing your Aliyah.
  • The reimbursement is only retroactive for 2 years prior to your date of Aliyah.
  • Only Olim who have not yet reached retirement age are eligible.
  • Reimbursement can be made only for Israeli notary/consulate verification with original receipts (or verified copy) . Apostille is not reimbursable!
