Aliyah: Rising Up in Trying Times
Nefesh B’Nefesh’s first Aliyah charter flight of the summer will go down in the history as one of the most emotional and intimate arrivals ever. Though the new Olim weren’t greeted with the same turnout and fanfare as on the previous 50 charter flights, there was not one cancellation and not a dry eye in the terminal at Ben Gurion Airport.
On the flight: 100 children, 29 families, and 54 singles, of which 21 are joining the IDF.
Some came for love, such as the bride who is planning to get married this month and at press time has not heard from her fiancé serving in the IDF in Gaza; others came for work such as the doctor who secured a position as a Pulmonary and Critical Care Physician at Shaarei Zedek Medical Center; 1 turned 88 on the flight. We applaud them all.
