If you aspire to work as a pharmacist assistant in the State of Israel, obtaining a license from the Ministry of Health is required. The licensing process involves several stages and specific documentation. Here is a step-by-step guide to assist you:

Licensing Process

To be eligible for a pharmacist assistant license in Israel, you must fulfill the following prerequisites:

  • Possess an undergraduate diploma from an accredited foreign institution.
  • Hold a valid pharmacy assistant certificate from the accredited body in your previous work country.
  • Have a minimum of 5 years of practical experience working full-time as a pharmacist assistant overseas.
  • The application and required documents for a license to work as a pharmacist’s assistant must be sent by registered mail to the Medical Professions Licensure Division, Ministry of Health, 39 Yirmiyahu St., Jerusalem, Israel.

List of required documents

Initiate the process by submitting a license application along with the required documents to the Medical Professions Licensing Division at the Ministry of Health. Ensure to retain copies, as submitted documents will not be returned.

Essential documents include:

  1. 2 passport photos.
  2. 2 photocopies of your identity card with Sefach. You can send a photocopy of an Israeli passport or a permit from Misrad Hapnim (Ministry of Interior) regarding your status in Israel. For those that do not have an Israeli passport or ID, please submit a scan of your foreign passport.
  3. Completed questionnaire for professional healthcare workers.
  4. Final diploma as a pharmacist’s assistant.
  5. License to practice in the profession from your previous work country or where you graduated. Submit a letter of explanation if this is not attached.
  6. Official work permits from relevant medical institutions.
  7. Certificate of professional integrity from competent authorities in your previous work country or where you studied. The certificate confirms that there are or were no complaints of discipline, negligence, or professional ethics against the applicant.

Translation and Verification of Documents

Ensure that all documents not written in Hebrew are translated into Hebrew by a certified translator in Israel. Certified copies of the original documents must be authenticated by an authorized notary in Israel.

  • Do not send original certification or licenses to the Medical Professional Licensing Division, only verified copies.
  • Documents not written in Hebrew should be translated into Hebrew by a certified translator in Israel. A copy of the original document and its translation must be submitted.
  • Graduates of Israeli institutions may submit original copies of diplomas, certificates of eligibility for a degree, and certificates of practicum; these copies must be approved by the relevant faculty as original copies.

What else?

Examination of Eligibility
Upon receipt of your application, the Administration (Ministry of Health) will verify the foreign certificates to determine eligibility.

Criminal Background Check
The Ministry of Health will seek approval from the Israel Police to confirm the absence of a criminal record for license applicants.

  • The Medical Professions Licensing Division at the Ministry of Health will apply to the Israel Police for the certification and after receiving it, a license will be issued to those who have complied with all other licensing requirements.
  • The Ministry of Health will not ask for the above certification directly from the license applicant.
    One Year Temporary License

Successful applicants will receive a link to pay the license fee. Once paid, a one-year temporary license for practical work in an Israeli pharmacy will be issued.

Permanent License Application
After one year of holding the temporary license, you need to submit:

  • Temporary license
  • A detailed opinion from the pharmacist in charge of the pharmacy
  • An application for a permanent license to the Medical Professions Licensing Division.

Issuance of Permanent License
Upon completion of all legal requirements, including a criminal record check, a permanent license to work as a pharmacist assistant will be sent to the provided address. Please note that providing accurate information is crucial for processing applications, and any false information may result in the non-processing of the submission.
