Caring for an elderly or frail family member can be challenging and demanding, often requiring round-the-clock supervision. As the care needs become overwhelming for family members, it’s important to explore other care options. Hiring a 24-hour foreign care worker to care for your relative in their own home can be a cost-effective alternative to nursing homes. Additionally, if you qualify for home health care assistance from Bituach Leumi (National Insurance Institute), you may be entitled to receive partial reimbursement of the monthly cost through the Bituach Leumi Nursing Care Law.

You have two options for employing a foreign caregiver. You can apply online, and upon approval, hire them directly, receiving funds as compensation. Alternatively, you can use a nursing company that provides these services. For more information please see Employing a Foreign Worker as a Caregiver.

In addition to the government-provided base funds, which include the worker’s monthly salary, health care insurance, and a weekly spending allowance, you are expected to provide adequate living space, three meals a day, and one day off per week. Many families cover the worker’s day off themselves, but healthcare agencies can provide another worker for an additional fee.
