The Director of Student Life is responsible for the overall student experience. This role oversees student safety, well-being, extracurricular programming, and the day-to-day systems that support student life outside the classroom.
The Director of Student Life directly manages the Student Life team, including the madrichim, nurse, social worker, and Av Bayit, and works closely with leadership and other departments to ensure a safe, supportive, well-organized, and meaningful student experience.
Key Responsibilities
1. Student Safety, Well-Being, and Support
- Ensure a safe, healthy, and supportive student environment.
- Oversee student welfare, emotional support, accommodations, and special cases.
- Support student discipline and follow-up in coordination with leadership.
- Participate in crisis response, risk management, and on-call support as needed.
2. Student Life Programming
- Lead the planning and implementation of student life programming.
- Develop extracurricular, evening, Shabbat, and special events and activities.
- Ensure that student life initiatives support student growth and development.
- Coordinate programming and activities for different student groups and organizational needs.
3. Staff Leadership and Team Development
- Directly manage and develop the madrichim, nurse, social worker, and Av Bayit.
- Lead staff onboarding, training, mentoring, and ongoing professional development.
- Establish clear expectations and maintain high standards of care, professionalism, and student support.
- Foster a collaborative and high-performing Student Life team.
4. Operations, Communication, and Student Experience
- Oversee key student life systems, including dormitory operations, sign-out procedures, home hospitality, and standards of care.
- Ensure a high-quality student experience across daily life, activities, and support services.
- Oversee parent communication related to student life matters, with the Av Bayit taking a lead role in individual parent communication and special cases.
- Collaborate closely with other departments to ensure coordination and effective follow-through.
- Contribute to planning, evaluation, financial reporting, and the continuous improvement of Student Life operations.
Qualifications
Required
- 3+ years of experience in youth programming, student services, residential life, community programming, or a related field.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience supervising staff and building high-performing teams.
- Fluency in English and Hebrew.
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred in Education, Psychology, Social Work, Social Sciences, or a related field.
- Strong digital literacy and proficiency with workplace systems and platforms is an advantage.
- Willingness to work flexible hours as needed.
