Overview

Bruner International School is seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Counselor to support the social, emotional, and developmental growth of our students. The counselor plays a central role in nurturing the whole child and in partnering with educators and families to create a safe, inclusive, and responsive learning environment.

**Role Overview**
The School Counselor works closely with students, teachers, leadership, and parents to support student well-being, emotional regulation, social skills, and learning readiness. The counselor contributes to a school culture grounded in connection, resilience, and community.

**Key Responsibilities**

**Student Support**

* Provide individual and small-group counseling for social, emotional, and behavioral development
* Observe students and identify those who may benefit from additional support
* Develop intervention strategies that support student growth and well-being
* Support peer relationships, transitions, and conflict resolution
* Respond to student crises with sensitivity and professionalism

**Teacher Guidance**

* Partner with teachers to support students’ social-emotional and behavioral needs
* Provide practical strategies for classroom regulation, inclusion, and differentiation
* Participate in student support meetings and collaborative planning
* Help implement school-wide social-emotional learning initiatives

**Family Partnership**

* Communicate with parents regarding student well-being and developmental needs
* Provide guidance and tools to support children at home
* Facilitate meetings and referrals when needed

**School Community Role**

* Promote a positive, respectful, and inclusive school climate
* Support preventative programming focused on resilience, identity, and belonging
* Maintain confidentiality and professional documentation standards
* Collaborate with external professionals and support services as appropriate

Qualifications:

* Degree in School Counseling, Educational Psychology, or related field
* Experience working with elementary-age children
* Strong relational, reflective, and collaborative skills
* Alignment with Bruner’s holistic, bilingual, and values-based educational approach
