Overview

The Lowy International School at Tel Aviv University is seeking an experienced and dynamic professional to establish and lead its Hebrew Language Instruction Unit. This is a senior, high-impact role combining strategic leadership with hands-on operational management.

The Unit Director will hold overall responsibility for the strategic, administrative, and operational management of the unit. The Director will work in close partnership with the Academic Head, who oversees the pedagogical and academic aspects of instruction. The role requires the ability to build, grow, and manage the unit while ensuring operational excellence, financial sustainability, and a high-quality student experience.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership and Development
• Develop and implement the unit’s vision and multi-year strategic plan
• Identify growth opportunities and support revenue development
• Expand programming to new audiences within and beyond the university
• Establish and maintain partnerships within TAU and with external stakeholders
• Lead marketing, outreach, and positioning efforts locally and internationally

Academic Coordination and Program Support
• Work closely with the Academic Head on curriculum planning and academic development
• Support the implementation of academic programs and ensure operational alignment
• Coordinate faculty recruitment and contracts in collaboration with the Academic Head
• Ensure that course offerings align with the strategic goals and target populations of the unit

Operational and Administrative Management
• Oversee the unit’s budget, financial planning, and resource allocation
• Manage student registration, onboarding, and course administration
• Build and manage course schedules, classroom allocation, and exam coordination
• Supervise administrative processes and ensure smooth day-to-day operations
• Provide guidance and support to students, faculty, and relevant university stakeholders

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree – required (relevant field preferred)
• Master’s degree – an advantage
• Proven managerial experience (minimum 3–5 years preferred) – required
• Experience managing academic programs or educational frameworks – strong advantage
• Experience in Hebrew language instruction – significant advantage
• Demonstrated experience in budget management – advantage
• Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills
• Full professional proficiency in Hebrew and English (additional languages an advantage)
• Experience working with international and multicultural populations – advantage
