Overview

Position Overview:

The CFO/Controller will be responsible for managing all financial operations of our company and its property portfolio. This role is both strategic and hands-on, requiring deep real estate accounting knowledge, experience with portfolio-level reporting, and the ability to work closely with the COO and analyst team on budgets, forecasting, and capital planning.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of driving financial discipline while ensuring accuracy and compliance across the portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Oversight & Strategy

· Oversee all accounting, reporting, and cash management functions across the portfolio.

· Partner with COO and analyst team on annual budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis.

· Manage distribution planning, investor reporting, and capital planning at both the property and corporate level.

· Provide financial insight to support asset management, leasing, and acquisition strategies.

Accounting & Reporting

· Supervise property-level accounting teams and third-party managers to ensure accuracy and timeliness of monthly/quarterly reports.

· Review and consolidate property financial statements and general ledgers.

· Prepare consolidated portfolio reporting packages for ownership.

· Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.

Treasury & Cash Management

· Manage cash flow across entities, including rent collections, vendor payments, and distributions.

· Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable with property managers.

· Monitor reserves, escrows, and lender requirements.

Banking & Financing

· Serve as the primary liaison with banks and lenders, coordinating draws, funding requests, and loan compliance.

· Track loan covenants and assist with refinancing preparation.

· Partner with COO on CapEx and TI/LC funding allocations.

Process & Controls

· Implement and maintain strong internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures.

· Streamline and standardize reporting processes across the portfolio.

· Recommend and deploy technology solutions to improve efficiency and accuracy.

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or MBA preferred).

· 8–15 years of progressive accounting/finance experience, with at least 5 years in real estate.

· Strong understanding of real estate accounting, loan compliance, and investor reporting.

· Hands-on experience with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.

· Proficiency in Excel and financial modeling; familiarity with Argus a plus.

· Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.

· Ability to thrive in a lean, entrepreneurial environment and balance both strategic and tactical responsibilities.
