The dorm leadership role is essential in maintaining a warm, functional, and uplifting environment for students at the Midrasha.
What We’re Looking For:
- Interest in tutoring in reading and comprehension of Torah text (experience in tutoring a plus)
- Fluent English (Hebrew fluency a plus)
- Strong communication, sensitivity, and interpersonal skills
- A passion for mentoring others in a growth-oriented, values-based environment
Interest in hands-on work related to cultivating the land (experience in gardening and permaculture a plus)
Key Responsibilities:
• Kitchen Oversight – Supervise cooking and cleaning rotation (toranut), ensure tasks are completed, and monitor communal food supplies weekly.
• Shabbat & Hospitality – Coordinate Shabbat hosting, prepare accommodations for guests, and be present on-site approximately every other Shabbat.
• Retreats & Holidays – Assist with logistics, welcome guests, and participate in meals and programming.
• Tutoring & Student Support – Provide daily tutoring (1 hour) and ongoing emotional, social, and practical support to students, including organizing birthdays, chesed opportunities, and jobs.
• Maintenance & Safety – Handle basic maintenance, maintain first-aid supplies, and serve as the point of contact for safety issues (e.g. fire alarms).
• Gardening– Help oversee the gardening work-study program. Assist in maintaining seasonal crops and the greenhouse, and coordinate harvesting.
