About the Event:

Explore the hidden world of Mea Shearim, the ultra-orthodox community in Jerusalem. Author and documentary filmmaker Tuvia Tenenbom grew up in that world. He was born into an ultra-Orthodox rabbinical family of Polish-Romanian descent, the documentary-maker broke away from that world at the age of 17 and joined the Israeli army. This award-winning documentary dives into the ultra-Orthodox world of Mea Shearim where Tenenbom lived for a year. We will end with Q&A.

About The Speaker

Tuvia Tenenbom is a journalist, bestselling author, playwright, director and founder of the Jewish Theater of New York. He earned advanced degrees in humanities and scientific studies, and his books and plays have been translated into eleven languages. His newspaper articles have appeared in leading media in Germany, the USA, and Israel. Tenenbom’s books include Catch the Jew!, I Sleep in Hitler’s Room, The Lies They Tell, The Taming of the Jew, Careful, Beauties Ahead! and Excuse Me, Is This Yours?
