From serving as Israel’s first political counselor in Amman, Jordan to confronting institutional bias at the UN… Ambassador Aviva Raz Shechter will share what it’s really like to represent Israel when lives are at stake, decisions are urgent, and scrutiny is relentless. You’ll also learn what it takes to become a career diplomat — from elite training to surviving the world’s toughest negotiations.
About The Speaker:
Ambassador Aviva Raz Shechter is a senior Israeli diplomat with over three decades of service, including roles in Amman, Washington DC and Geneva, where she served as Israel’s first female ambassador to the UN & International Organizations. She was nominated first political counselor to Amman, Jordan and had the privilege of meeting with King Hussein during the early years of the peace process. Raz-Schecter was Israel’s first Special Envoy for UNSCR 1325-WPS ( Women,Peace and Security) and worked as a senior instructor at the INDC (Israel National Defense College) for the past three years. She is currently dealing with future challenges in the diplomatic arena and strategizing on how to prepare better for them.
