Birdwatching Tours in English at Rosh Tsipor Urban Sanctuary

Located at the confluence of the Yarkon and Ayalon rivers, the Rosh Tsipor Birdwatching Center is a restored wetland right in the center of Gush Dan. This habitat serves as a permanent home for local wildlife and an important rest stop for migratory birds traveling along the Syrian-African Rift Valley. It offers a quiet space to observe urban nature just minutes from the busy city.

Our introductory tour teaches you the practical basics of birdwatching as we move through the park’s different environments. Starting along the trails, you will learn how to properly use binoculars to focus and track movement, allowing you to spot woodland songbirds hidden in the tree canopy. As we walk, we will learn how to recognize local species and discover interesting facts about them—such as what they eat, their unique calls, and how they have adapted to thrive in an urban ecosystem.

The observation continues inside the wooden hides, where we can watch wetland birds up close without disturbing them. Here, you will practice identifying species like kingfishers and herons by observing their shapes, natural behaviors, and how they interact with the open water and reeds. You will leave with a better understanding of our local environment and the foundational skills to recognize the birds living right in your own neighborhood.
