FIRST DIRECT ALIYAH FLIGHT FROM LA
TO ARRIVE IN ISRAEL TUESDAY
(JERUSALEM – 25 July, 2010) The first ever direct Aliyah flight from California to Israel organized by Nefesh B’Nefesh and the Jewish Agency for Israel, will land in Ben Gurion Airport on Tuesday, July 27 at 14:15pm. On board the flight will be 62 new Olim from the West Coast of the USA, mostly from Los Angeles and San Francisco. Among the new Israeli citizens are some 48 children and young adults.
Leading up to their Aliyah, four of the single girls decided to meet up at one of LA’s most famous tourist sites in the Hollywood Hills to take a photograph of their soon-to-be former hometown as a memento.
Linda Foroozan, who will be moving to Jerusalem, remembers her many visits to Jerusalem as a young girl. “I always knew that I wanted to live in Israel when I grew up,” she said. “In the meantime I lucked out and I met an Israeli guy, and next month we will be getting married in Israel, so this flight marks new beginnings in my life in more ways than one.”
Nefesh B’Nefesh expects to assist over 5,000 Olim from North America and the UK in 2010, which is a record year for western Aliyah.
