On Sunday, April 18, from 1-3 pm, Cicero's Shades of Orange art studio will represent the Israeli town of Tzfat for families involved with The PJ Library*. PJ Library Coordinator Iris Koller in Central New York will "set the stage for families to place themselves in the midst ofthe artists' colony of Israel," said organizers ofthe program. With stories, art and a snack, families with young children will celebrate the upcoming 62"J birthday of the modern state of Israel. Advanced registration will be required for the event and space will be limited. The program will be focused on families with 214-5-year-olds, and siblings will be welcome to participate. The first child in a family can attend the program for free, but there will be a small fee for each sibling.
"PJ Goes to Tzfat" will be done in partnership with the Nesiyah Tovah, Syracuse programs occurring for multiple age groups in the local Jewish community. Nesiyah Tovah, Syracuse was made possible by a grant from Ma'alot: a Joint Project ofthe United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism's Israel Commission and Nefesh B'Nefesh, which was awarded to Congregation Beth Sholom-Chevra Shas and Temple AdathYeshurun. Temple Concord, Congregation Ner Tamid, Shaarei Torah Orthodox Congregation of Syracuse, Hillel at Syracuse University, the Jewish Community Center, the Rabbi Jacob H. Epstein High School of Jewish Studies, the Syracuse Hebrew Day School, The PJ Library of Central New York and SyraJews are partnering in all Nesiyah Tovah, Syracuse programs.
Koller will have information about The PJ Library and registration forms available for any family not already enrolled in the communitywide program, which sends the gift of Jewish books to children from 6-months-5'/2 years old. Families can register and obtain more information by contacting Koller at [email protected].
