Single olim mingle on flight to Israel

JERUSALEM (JTA) -- The final charter aliyah flight of the summer, carrying dozens of single Jewish immigrants, landed in Israel.

Of the 204 olim on the Nefesh B'Nefesh flight that arrived Tuesday in Israel, 80 were unmarried adults.

Tony Gelbart, the founder of Nefesh B'Nefesh who organized the "bachelor's flight," told Ynet that the group deliberately organized the seat assignment so that single men and women would be sitting next to each other, perhaps forming lasting relationships.

Also on board were several high-profile Jewish bloggers, who were following some of the olim to blog about their aliyah experiences in advance of Nefesh B'Nefesh's second International Jewish Bloggers Convention being held Sept. 13 in Jerusalem.

Some 3,000 immigrants have come to Israel this summer on flights sponsored jointly by Nefesh B'Nefesh and the Jewish Agency for Israel.
