100 New Arrivals in Israel; 3,000 to Come
By Maayana Miskin

(IsraelNN.com) One hundred new immigrants arrived in Israel on Wednesday under the joint auspices of Nefesh B'Nefesh and the Jewish Agency. The two organizations plan to bring a total of more than 3,000 new immigrants to Israel over the course of the summer.

Many of the new immigrants have already chosen a community. Destinations range from Eilat to the north, where immigrants will be eligible for benefits from the Nefesh B'Nefesh “Go North” campaign.

Wednesday's arrivals came from the United States; others planning Aliyah (immigration) hail from Canada and Britain as well. Since Nefesh B'Nefesh became active in Britain, Aliyah from that country has jumped by more than 50 percent.

While Nefesh B'Nefesh is currently active only in North America and Britain, the Jewish Agency is active worldwide, and hopes to bring new immigrants to Israel from dozens of countries this year.

Immigration from English-speaking countries has risen in recent years as immigration from the former Soviet Union dropped. More Jews are arriving in Israel from France and Yemen as well.
