Among those on hand to greet Myia Shoshan of Fairfield when she arrived in Israel on Tuesday, August 2 were none other than Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Natan Sharansky, chairman of the Jewish Agency.
They were joined by 1,000 family and friends of Shoshan and the 237 other "olim" (new immigrants) who were transported to their new home on an "Aliyah" flight chartered by Nefesh B'Nefesh, the non-profit organization that helps North American and British Jews make their permanent move to the Jewish state. It was the second such flight sponsored by the agency, which has helped close to 20,000 Jews fulfill their dream of living in Israel since its inception in 2002.
The 17-year old Shoshan was among 55 young men and women on the flight who will be joining the Israeli army.
