Newscaster: Prime Minister Olmert spoke to a group of new immigrants of the "Nefesh B''Nefesh" organization who arrived today. This was another flight for the North American new immigrants, the 235 new immigrants included 91 singles. Prime Minister Olmert spoke to them when they arrived .
Ehud Olmert: What the heck, why do you have to go to the place which is know to be the most threatening, the most difficult, the most dangerous place in the world, this is not the most safest place for Jews, because sometimes Jews are killed in the course of confrontations with terrorists as we''ve experienced over the last years .
Newscaster: Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, who also said that Israel was a wonderful place. One of the immigrants who''s come today is Amy Gross of Florida, who spoke after arriving to David Zeev .
Amy Gross: Yes, I am single .
David Zeev: And you''re 25-years-old .
Amy Gross: Yes, 25-years-old from Miami, Florida .
David Zeev: From Miami, Florida, now I understand you are, I guess we could call it, a "Birthright" success story, would that be correct ?
Amy Gross: Yes that''s true, my first time in Israel was on the Birthright trip in 2004, and that''s where it all began .
David Zeev: So you had never been to Israel before that .
Amy Gross: No, that was the first time and I knew from that minute that this would be something I would be doing in the years to come .
David Zeev: why is that, what struck you ?
Amy Gross: Just everything, the people, the friends that I have here, I just love the country and there ''s no place that I feel at home, I love it here .
David Zeev: What plans have you made for yourself to live here ?
Amy Gross: I''m living in Jerusalem in the German Colony, and I have a job, o work with Young Judea for the WUJES Israel program, I did a semester studying abroad at Hebrew U, and then I went back and forth, I''ve been working for Young Judea in Miami for 2 years, and basically that''s it, and then I''ve bee back and forth to Israel with work a couple times. I think this is the best time in my life that I could possibly move to Israel, no commitment, nothing holding me back at home, for me it was like now or never .
David Zeev: We''ve all heard about the benefits that Nefesh B''Nefesh give families for example, do they also help out the singles who come, has that played a major role in your making this decision ?
Amy Gross: They definitely help out singles, Nefesh B''Nefesh, they''re amazing, they just really, they were the people on the flight, they were amazing, they''re helpful, yeah, they helped us out .
David Zeev: It sounds like people are trying to get in touch with you even now, I want to know about the reactions of the people in Miami where you come from in terms of the idea of making Aliyah of moving to Israel .
Amy Gross: My friends are really supportive, my family they live in Michigan, and they''ve never been to Israel, but they''re really proud of me and supportive and I''m really looking forward to them to come and visit .
David Zeev: Do you have a social base, you know a lot of people here already, you''ve mentioned your stays at Hebrew University and of course on the Birthright trip, but do you know people here ?
Amy Gross: Yeah, I know great people here, and that was part of the decision for me to come here .
David Zeev: Is it friends, do you have family, what exactly ?
Amy Gross: Friends, lots of friends, family .
David Zeev: But not much family. Oh, you do. So you''re moving into, have you already moved into your German Colony place ?
Amy Gross: Yeah, I moved into my apartment today . I setup my room, it''s all ready to go .
David Zeev: And that''s it, and are you giving yourself any time to tour around first or you''re going to start working ?
Amy Gross: Not really, I''m gonna have to start work tomorrow .
David Zeev: Wow that''s pretty quick, one day after coming in, ok .
Amy Gross: I''m gonna go setup my bank account and do all those things that new Olim have to do and then go into work .
David Zeev: Ok, that''s the true sign of making Aliyah and moving to Israel, having to deal with the banks, good luck .
Amy Gross: Thank you very much .
Newscaster: New immigrant Amy Gross and we wish you the best of luck!
