We are looking for a full-time, 5-day-a-week staff member to join us in September. What that means for us is 30-35 hours a week. There is some flexibility on the exact schedule. Days start at 7:30 (we pay from 7:20 with the expectation that staff are in the Gan and have things ready before kids arrive) until 4:15 pm. The kids leave by 4 pm, and there are always a few minutes of clean-up to do.<\/p>\n
We have 28-30 kids who will begin the year ages 14-32 months and are split into two groups. All of our staff work with both groups throughout the day and throughout the week. We are looking for someone who, first and foremost, thinks that the idea of sitting and building towers or going on imaginary bus rides sounds like the best way to spend their day. Gan Shelanu is a fun place to work. Yes, it can be loud and crazy and chaotic at times, and there are days we wish naptime were all day. We work as a team to keep the Gan clean and running smoothly and to help with all parts of the day, from free play to art projects to washing hands and changing diapers. We make all the food in Gan, so culinary talent (or developing culinary talent) is a big plus.<\/p>\n
Qualifications:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n -Completion of the \u05e7\u05d5\u05e8\u05e1 \u05de\u05d8\u05e4\u05dc\u05d5\u05ea<\/span> or equivalent certification accepted by the Ministry of Education, or beginning the year-long (one evening a week) course after the \u05d7\u05d2\u05d9\u05dd<\/span>. The course will be free of charge.<\/p>\n -Completion of the required first aid and safety courses within the first few months working in the gan. These courses are offered free of charge, usually a mix of in-person and Zoom sessions.<\/p>\n -Being physically able and comfortable working in a lively and dynamic environment, able to sit on the floor and play then get up when needed to assist with something else.<\/p>\n -Comfortable wiping noses, changing diapers and helping kids in the bathroom, washing dishes, and washing the floor (tasks shared by the entire staff).<\/p>\n We are looking for someone who has a “rosh gadol” and can be active, not reactive. Through sitting and playing with kids, you’ll learn and understand the different dynamics between them and be there when they need help from a grown-up to navigate harder situations, and also be there to provide positive reinforcement.<\/p>\n This is an active and physical job, but also an incredibly fun one.
