Please review the important information below in preparation for your Aliyah flight departure and arrival.

Flight and Airport Information

This isn’t just any flight to Israel; it’s your Aliyah flight! However, check-in and boarding are the same as with any flight to Tel Aviv.

Airline recommended check-in time is 4 hours before your flight’s departure.

Just as you would before any trip, we urge you to check the airline’s website for departure time updates or view updates on the Ben Gurion Airport Flight Board

E-Tickets & Baggage Allowance

Baggage Allowance

  • Your reservation includes 2 bags x 50lbs/62” H+L+W + personal item + carry-on bag. (on the bottom of the e-ticket, it may indicate 1 bag, but the ticket will include 2 bags)
  • Do not pay for a third bag beforehand as it will not be applied to your reservation appropriately. Pay El Al directly at check-in.
  • Third bag: $130 USD – at check-in
  • Fourth & Fifth Bags: $200 – at check-in
  • Six bags and over needs to be coordinated with the cargo department

E-Tickets

  • Confirmation numbers will be available once the tickets are issued.
  • You will receive an e-ticket by email a few days before your flight once the tickets are issued.
E-Tickets

You should receive your e-ticket from the Flights Department which includes your confirmation number.

Arranged connecting flight information will be included in your e-ticket.

Seating and Upgrades

Upgrades on Air Canada must be requested and paid for at the time of booking.

Call Air Canada with your confirmation number for preferred seating.

Expect to be charged by Air Canada. Preferred seating and upgrades are not included in your Aliyah flight benefit.

Baggage Allowance

This allowance will not appear on your e-ticket.

Do not pay for a third bag beforehand as it will not be applied to your reservation appropriately. Pay Air Canada directly at check-in.

Each extra bag (third and up): $225 CAD – at check-in

Documentation

Pack all personal documents, including every original document that you presented to the Jewish Agency, in your carry-on bag.  You will not have access to your luggage until after Aliyah processing.

What to Expect upon Arrival:

Review your Aliyah Benefits based on your Jewish Agency status.

The transportation benefit is courtesy of Misrad HaKlita. Transportation to your first destination in Israel is arranged during your Aliyah processing. Suitable vehicles are available for every family size including accompanying baggage, strollers, and car-seats.

Note: You may be paired with other Olim or families if you live in the same general area.

Nefesh B’Nefesh Staffing

On specially appointed Group or Charter flights, Nefesh B’Nefesh Staff support Olim at both arrival and departure the airports.

On Cluster flights, Nefesh B’Nefesh Staff does not join Olim at airport check-in nor upon arrival at Ben Gurion.

A representative from Misrad HaKlita will greet you to assist you as you deplane; look for a sign with your name or “Olim”.

Meal Service

All meals requested are Glatt Kosher; they may be pre-packaged/boxed meal due to health and safety guidelines. May we suggest bringing packaged snacks to supplement; ensure that your snacks comply with TSA Guidelines.

Lost or Damaged Baggage

In the situation that your baggage has been lost or damaged, please be sure to file a claim before exiting Ben Gurion airport.

While this is between you and the airline, please submit your claim number to [email protected] so that we can see if it is possible to advocate on your behalf.
