Theodore Herzl began the modern Zionist movement with a practical goal of creating a Jewish State through political means. Early Zionists aimed to return the Jewish people to their homeland, the land of Israel. Herzl traveled from country to country, speaking to world leaders, influential Jews, and the Jewish community.
Israel will grow unimpeded
God wrote, “You shall possess the Land and you shall settle in it, for to you have I given the land to possess it.” (Numbers 33:53) In his comments to this verse, Nachmanidies wrote, “In my opinion, this verse expresses a positive command. We are commanded to settle and dwell in the land for it was given to them, and we cannot reject (me’us) the nachalat Hashem (the portion of God).
Diaspora Zionisim – What is It’s Role?
The accusation that you can’t be a Zionist outside of Israel is often levied at Diaspora Jewry, but does the accusation have merit or does it misunderstand Zionism at its core? Understandably, many Diaspora Zionists find the notion that their Zionism is lacking because they don’t live in Israel to be offensive. Diaspora Zionists believe in Zionism’s principles and love Israel and her people just as much as anyone living in Israel, so why should their Zionism be discounted?
The Uniqueness of Eretz Yisrael
Every day since I’ve moved to Israel almost 8 years ago I’ve counted every day I’ve been blessed to live in Israel and on many days I post that day’s number with the hashtag #Livingthedream. Living in Eretz Yisrael isn’t only my dream, but it was my ancestor’s dream as well. Zionism Has Made the World a Better Place
Zionism isn’t just a Jewish movement – it is a movement that contributed to the benefit of the entire world. The identity of the earliest Zionists is a matter of debate; many consider Abraham following God’s command to “Go from your birthland to a different land,” to be the seminal moment of Zionism, others point to the first Zionist Conference in Basel, Switzerland to be the start of Zionism. Those moments focused on bringing the Jewish people to Eretz Yisrael, but the movement itself was never designed to only assist the Jewish people. Zionism raised the level of social rights, justice and morality in the world. Today’s Israel is a truly unique place. It’s the People that Makes Israel so Special
I’ve given numerous lectures delving into the various factors that make Israel so special. There almost seems to be no end to the list you can create of all that makes the Jewish homeland unique. There is the feeling a Jew gets when they walk the streets, knowing they’re stepping the same steps as their ancestors, there’s the sanctity of the land, and the feeling a Jew has knowing that while in Israel, they’re home.
