Israel has an amazing array of after school and summer activities and many of our Olim put their talents to work by running workshops in English for kids. Here are a few in the North. Location: Classes take place at Miriam’s Well Gallery, on the midrechov in Tzfat, Rechov Yerushalayim 64.
Description: Come paint ready-made ceramics or design and create original pieces out of clay. Family workshops, birthday parties, vacation activity, weekly classes – lots of options for you to experience the pleasure of working with clay in all of its forms.

Location: Sigaliot Neighborhood near ORT high school, Ma’alot-Tarshiha
Description: Learning to sew gives girls confidence, teaches them a skill they will use all their lives, and is fun. This summer, Hanna’s Sewing School is offering one-week, intensive sewing programs for girls from age 8 through high school.
Ages 8 through 11 or Ages 12 and Up for Beginners
- Make a tote or beach bag
- Make a decorative pillow
- Make a skirt
Young girls with experience may make additional/other projects
Ages 12 and Up–Intermediate (Prior Sewing Experience)
- Choose and use a downloadable pattern from the internet
- Make a shirt that fits: adjusting a paper pattern
- Sew knit fabrics
Schedule and Information:
All classes take place between 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM
1,000 NIS per week, includes everything. We provide all equipment and materials. Each camp has a maximum of 3 girls so each can receive personal attention. We offer both hand sewing and machine sewing. There are 3 sewing machines available, so there is no waiting for a turn.
July 1-5: Intermediate
July 8-12: Ages 8-11
July 15-19: Beginners 12 and up
July 22-26: Ages 8-11
July 29-August 2: Beginners 12 and up
August 5-9: Intermediate
Each day will include several different kinds of sewing-related activities. The teacher has a M.Ed in elementary education and before making Aliyah in September 2017 she taught ESL in colleges for 10 years and owned and operated a sewing school for 5 years. Osek Patur #333985851.

Location: Studio Tiferet HaYetsirah in Yavne’el
Description: This Chug is for Beginners and are offered as single sessions. The introductory workshop takes place in my studio and costs 220NIS for 2 hours and includes all materials.
The all-day mindful ‘Weaving from Within” workshop also takes place in therapeutic setting of the studio and costs 450 NIS (materials included).
The Collaborative workshop is for families and groups. 250 NIS per loom for a 2 hour session. Up to 4 people per loom (25 NIS for each additional person) Materials included.
Children’s Fibre Arts project-based workshops (1.5 hour sessions) options are:
- Hat (1 session) -preset warp
- Scarf or Tapestry (2 sessions) – preset warp
- Pillow (2 sessions) -pre set warp
- Bag (2 sessions) -pre set warp
- Belt (2 sessions) -wind your own warp

Ages: 10-16 year olds
Description: The class will take place each Wednesday from 4:00-5:00 PM in June, July and August. The kids will learn to see the world’s beauty up close, think out of the box, and learn how to take better more skillful photos. No professional cameras are needed – just a basic camera or even a camera phone will do. Classes will be in English and Hebrew.
Cost: 180 shekels per month
