Behind many ordinary words lie extraordinary stories—and after this lecture, you may never look at the English language in quite the same way again.\nDr. Avraham Roos is an experienced educator, linguist, and public speaker who has lectured widely to English-speaking adult audiences throughout Israel on subjects ranging from Jewish history and culture to language, art, and general history. Born in the Netherlands, he made aliyah in 1991 and has since built a long career in education, including teaching in the English Departments of several teacher-training colleges, where he has trained future English teachers in language and methodology. Dr. Roos holds an MA from the University of Liverpool and a PhD from the University of Amsterdam, where his research focused on the history and development of English translations of the Passover Haggadah.
