Alayne and Bruce Greenberg of Tucson announce the engagement of their son, Aaron Heschel Greenberg, to Jennifer Michelle Zeichner, daughter of Lana and Paul Helfner of Ocean Pines, Md., and Stan & Ronnie Zeichner of Columbus, N.J.

The groom's grandparents are the late William Greenberg and the late Adeline Greenberg Bloom of Tucson and William Rosenberg and the late Ruth Rosenberg of Phoenix.
The bride's grandparents are Bernard and Sally Zeichner of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Sidney and Deborah Lubin of Middletown, N.Y.

The groom is a graduate of Tucson Hebrew Academy and Sahuaro High School. He received his A.A. in advertising art and his B.A. in graphic design from the Art Center Design College in Tucson. He is freelancing in graphic design in Jerusalem while working at AOL as a consultant support supervisor.

The bride received her B.A. in sociology from Ramapo College of New Jersey in Mahwah and her M.A. in teaching from American University in Washington, D.C. She teaches English at Berlitz School of Language in Jerusalem and works at AOL as a customer care consultant.

The couple met through Nefesh B'Nefesh at JFK Airport, where they began their journey to Israel as new olim.  They celebrated their first anniversary of making aliyah on July 14. The wedding is planned for Jan. 5, 2006 at Beit Shmuel in Jerusalem, overlooking the Old City.

 


Mr. and Mrs. William Rudner of Canton, Ohio, announce the engagement of their daughter, Beth Anne Rudner, to Dr. Michael Evan Margolis, son of Dr. and Mrs. Melvin Margolis of Tucson.

The bride-to-be received her B.A. in organizational behavior and management from the University of Michigan. She is a manager of member program and training at American Municipal Power-Ohio.
 
The groom received his B.S. in biomedical engineering and his doctor of medicine degree from Northwestern University. He is a hand and orthopedic surgeon at Southern Arizona Orthopedics.

The wedding is planned for Dec. 3, 2005 at Shaaray Torah Synagogue in Canton. The couple will reside in Tucson.

The groom's grandparents are the late William Greenberg and the late Adeline Greenberg Bloom of Tucson and William Rosenberg and the late Ruth Rosenberg of Phoenix.

The bride's grandparents are Frances Schiff of Phoenix and Samuel Schiff of Clayton, N.C. and the late Sadie and Morris Cohen.

The groom is a graduate of Tucson Hebrew Academy and Pueblo Magnet High School. He attended film school at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, Calif., and is currently producing and developing the new extreme sport, SlamBall.

The bride grew up in Chicago and moved to Phoenix in 1995 where she gradated from Mountain Pointe High School in Ahwatukee. She received her B.S. in biology from University of California, Los Angeles, where she now works in mental health research.

The couple is planning an Oct. 29, 2005 wedding at Ebell Club in Long Beach, Calif., and will delay their honeymoon to attend Benjamin's brother's wedding in Jerusalem.

MICHAEL ADAM EVENCHIK, son of Debbie and Art Evenchik, will celebrate becoming a Bar Mitzvah on Saturday, Aug. 20 at Congregation Or Chadash.

He is the grandson of Harvey Evenchik and Cyvia Evenchik of Tucson.

Michael attends Tucson Hebrew Academy where he is an honor student. He is a member of the THA basketball team and plays the drums in the school band. He also enjoys soccer and baseball. He is collecting aluminum pop tops for The Ronald McDonald House for his mitzvah project.

MARGO GRAY was named Woman of the Year by the Hadassah Southern Arizona. VICKY KAPLAN received the chapter's National Leadership award.

CANTOR DAVID MONTEFIORE has been elected president of The Jewish Ministers Cantors Association of America & Canada. The JMCA was founded in New York in 1897. Montefiore is also director of The Cantors' Conservatory, housed at Tucson's Historic Stone Avenue Temple.

PENNY GASSAN, administrative director of in-home services for JEWISH FAMILY & CHILDREN'S SERVICE OF SOUTHERN ARIZONA, was awarded the Pima Council on Aging's Jean Wiener Award for Excellence in Case Management.

JEFFREY H. DUBOIS, DDS, opened a dental practice for infants through teens at 6246 E. Pima, Suite 140. A general dentist, Dr. DuBois has been practicing in Tucson for the past 21 years.

THE TUCSON CHAPTER OF THE BRANDEIS UNIVERSITY NATIONAL WOMEN'S COMMITTEE received the "Louis" award at the organization's recent national conference. The award acknowledges the chapter's efforts on behalf of Brandeis University and its libraries.

TEMPLE EMANU-EL won an Honorable Mention in the Union for Reform Judaism's Belin Outreach Awards. The award honored two of Temple Emanu-El's outreach programs, "Taste of Judaism II, Another Bite" and "The Babies and Bagels Club."

THE TUCSON JCC STINGRAYS youth swim team took first place at the Canyon del Oro League Championship held at Amphi High School last month. Many of the JCC swimmers were awarded "First Place High Point" in their age categories.
