Photo Essay: Despite Destruction, American Jews Make Aliyah
19:06 Aug 24, '05 / 19 Av 5765
By Ezra HaLevi

As the Jews of Gaza and northern Samaria were being expelled from their homes, an entire planeload of North American Jews landed in Israel last week, pledging to build the Jewish State.

Friends, family and Aliyah enthusiasts come to Ben Gurion Airport to greet the new arrivals.
The well-wishers wait inside the "old" Ben Gurion terminal for the new Israelis to arrive.
The plane arrives - cheers and song fill the morning air.
The new olim, immigrants to Israel, step off the runway shuttle onto Israeli soil.
Baby oleh.
Nefesh b'Nefesh co-founders Rabbi Yehoshua Fass and Tony Gelbart address the new olim.
Rabbi Shlomo Riskin, who left his congregation in Manhatten, inviting them to join him in making Aliyah to the Gush Etzion town of Efrat, addresses the new immigrants.
"Blow a great shofar for our freedom, and raise a banner to gather in our exiles"
