Rental Assistance

The Ministry of Housing offers Olim Chadashim rental assistance beginning from the 13th month after Aliyah. During the first year of Aliyah, rental assistance is distributed through Sal Klita (the Absorption Basket).

The period of eligibility for rental assistance is up to five years from the date of receiving Oleh status.

The level of assistance will be defined according to your family status, and the number of years you have resided in Israel. 

Single parent families are entitled to five years of assistance from the second year of Aliyah until six years from their date of Aliyah.

Soldiers serving in the IDF are entitled to assistance up to 5 years after their Aliyah at a rate of 223 NIS per month.

Lone soldiers – A Chayal Boded is entitled to additional rental subsidy. While receiving Sal Klita (during the first year) he or she will be entitled for special monthly grant  352 NIS per month.  After the first year, if they are still serving in the IDF they will be entitled to rent subsidy at a rate of 452 NIS per month.

Immigrants who receive income support from Bituach Leumi (elderly olim, single-parent families with income support etc.) are entitled to extended assistance with rent subsidy on the condition that they are recipients of these benefits from Bituach Leumi and that they meet the criteria of Misrad Haklita as outlined on the following page: http://www.moia.gov.il/Moia_en/Diur/entitled.htm.

There is no extension of the period of eligibility if you have traveled abroad.

Rent subsidy payments are transferred automatically to the Oleh's bank account. If you are a "Mishpachat Olim" (married to an Israeli) or are married to an Oleh with an extension of rights, your rent subsidy will not be deposited automatically and you will have to refer to one of the companies listed below.

If you traveled abroad for an extended period of time, your rent subsidy payments will be discontinued. You may reinstate the payments by visiting one of the following companies:
