Netivot

This city has the charm of being a small remote town, yet its proximity to the center of the country makes it a prime location. Netivot is a city with a very mixed population, where each group works at finding the balance of respect for the other, while maintaining a lifestyle that is meaningful to them. A Garin Torani moved into the city and has made an impact on the residents and on the quality of the Orthodox education system.

Education / Youth

There is an education center for children:

Beit Mordechai Technology Center, which helps to educate both adults and children in computers. They also sponsor a nationwide robotics competition. The center is open until 10 p.m. for students.

There are 4 public religious schools, including a Noam school for boys and girls, and a Chabad school for girls only. There is one Mamlachti elementary school and high school. There are 9 independently run religious schools offering a more right wing education.

Transportation

There is no central bus station in the city.

Cabs from Netivot to Be’er Sheva and Ashkelon are 12 NIS.

There is a bus twice a day to Jerusalem. There is a direct express bus to Tel Aviv many times a day.

In 2014, a new train station opened in Netivot, making it possible to travel to Tel Aviv in an hour.

Amenities / Services

There are small shopping areas offering both basic and upscale shopping. Basic shopping is very reasonable in Netivot.

There is cinema and theater.

Community and Religious Life

There is a well-funded Ethiopian synagogue and cultural center which adds to the blend of the community.

While quiet and remote, Netivot has more pubs and night clubs than Be’er Sheva, making it a favorite spot for the collegiate crowd.
