Licensing Procedure for Clinical Criminologists

In order to obtain a license from the Ministry of Health, you must personally submit your request at the Bureau of Health closest to your home (according to the address written in your Israeli Identification Card.)

The following is a list of the documents necessary for processing this request:

  • 3 passport photos.

  • 3 photocopies of Israeli identity card, including the address stub and/or photocopy of passport with valid authorization for living in Israel.

  • Final diploma from a recognized university indicating completion of studies for a master’s degree in clinical criminology, or certification from the university regarding completion of all requirements for the institution, and entitlement to a diploma as  a clinical criminologist to be awarded on a certain date.

  • Official confirmation of beginning and ending date of studies.

  • For overseas graduates – work license from abroad (in the event that the requested license cannot be attached, attach a letter of explanation).

  • For overseas graduates (and in the relevant cases, Israeli graduates as well) – official work permits from the appropriate institutions, and notations regarding the starting and ending dates of work at each institution (in the relevant cases – a work card).

  • For overseas graduates: professional letter of good standing from the authorized bodies in the country from which the applicant immigrated to Israel. The letter confirms that there are no, and have not been any, disciplinary, negligence or professional ethics complaints against the clinical criminologist.

  • Israel Police confirmation of the absence of criminal records (or alternatively: details of the existing criminal records in the applicant’s name). In the absence of confirmation, the Medical Professionals Licensing Division will contact the police to receive the confirmation.
  • Registration form (in 3 copies).

Note:

  • Original certificates and documents not written in Hebrew or Arabic must be translated into Hebrew by a notary in Israel who has a command of Hebrew and the language from which the original document was translated.
  • All of the documents must be submitted in the original plus 2 photocopies. If a notary translated the document, the original notarized copy and 2 photocopies of the translation should be attached. If the document is not translated, it should be submitted in 3 copies, with the photocopies verified at the office by comparing them to the original document.

Knowledge of Hebrew
A good working knowledge of Hebrew is essential. It is strongly advised to take Ulpan upon arrival. In addition to regular ulpan, Misrad Haklita offers an ulpan for medical professionals - shlav bet. They will open this class provided there are enough people interested. Be in touch with your branch of Misrad Haklita to find out when the next class will begin.
