Please follow the steps below if your child is already registered as an Israeli citizen.

Child is not yet registered as an Israeli citizen:

If your child is not yet registered as an Israeli citizen: you will first need to register them as Israeli and then apply for their Israeli passport. All passport applicants need to appear in person at the Consulate in order for the passport application to be processed. For more information CLICK HERE.

Parents of the minor are registered as married:

If the parents of the minor are registered as married with the Ministry of Interior in Israel, only one parent is required to present him/herself at the Consulate. However, they must bring the other parent’s passport.

Parents of the minor are not married or are not registered as married:

If the parents of the minor are not married or are not registered as married with the Ministry of Interior in Israel, both parents must come to the Consulate in person and present their original marriage certificate with apostille certification.

If the parents of the minor are divorced:

If the parents of the minor are divorced, the custodial parent must bring a court order specifically stating that they have the authority to issue or extend the minor’s passport and take them out of the country. A divorce settlement stating that the parent has full custody over the child is NOT sufficient.

If the court order cannot be presented then the other parent must also present him/herself at the Consulate. If the other parent does not reside in the area, they must go to the nearest Israeli Consulate in order to give their consent.

If the other parent lives in Israel they must go to the Ministry of Interior to give their consent to issue the child’s passport.

Parents must bring with them:

  • The minor’s old passport (if applicable)
  • Two 2” by 2” passport pictures. The pictures should be focused, frontal, with a light background and with the applicant’s eyes open.
  • $38 in cash, credit card or money order made to the “Consulate General of Israel in…”. They do not accept personal checks.
  • The Application for a New Passport (1.01 MB) form, signed by both parents in front of a Notary Public or Consul. The form is available at the following link.

The new passport can either be collected at the Consulate on a date that will be given to you at the time of application or sent to you by FedEx for an additional $9.
