  • Eshel: JDC-ESHEL strives to improve the status of the elderly population in Israel, developing conditions and services to guarantee better quality of life for the elderly, and to improve the image of older people to society as a whole. Programs include homes, daycare centers, employment programs, volunteer programs, health promotion programs, projects for the Ethiopian elderly, housing and supportive communities, programs for Holocaust survivors, publications and videos, and the Audiovisual Center for the Elderly.   • Yad Sarah: Yad Sarah provides a spectrum of free or nominal cost services designed to make life easier for sick, disabled and elderly people and their families. Services include activities for the homebound, emergency alarm response system, geriatric dental clinic, Golden Garden coffee shops, home services department, home visits by volunteers, information services for parents with special needs children, legal aid for the elderly, Lifelink emergency bracelets, Oxygen services and special equipment, the Karten Rehabilitative Computer Center, a toy library, an enrichment center for special children and their families, skills training, an employment center and transportation for people in wheelchairs.   • The Israeli government has created an online calculator (in Hebrew) for Holocaust survivors to calculate whether or not they are eligible for benefits.  One needs to have Israeli citizenship to use this tool.  See http://zakaim.mof.gov.il/.
