Please provide us with a brief description of your field.

I am a personal trainer, meaning I help people through adopting a healthier lifestyle including physical activity and better nutrition.

What is your current position and company?

I do my own thing. I have a small private space in which I do my sessions. I work by myself, for myself.

How did you find your job? How do most people in your field find a job?

This is something I feel passionately about, so I researched and decided to create my own business. I personally reach out and find clients who I think would be suitable for my personal training methods.

What experience do you need to get into your field?

A valid personal training certification and a passion for exercise.

What degree should someone making Aliyah come with in order to break into your field/get a decent position in your field?

A valid/international personal training certification, CPR certification. It can always help to have some additional credentials, of course. For example, additional courses in anatomy, physiology, nutrition, etc. would be beneficial.

What experience do you need to get the position you have?

You need experience with a lot of different machines, equipment, and various types of exercise methods to be able to meet the needs of the client.

What are the benefits?

Being able to create my own work schedule, have my own gym, be my own boss, choose my clients, and being creative with different exercise work-plans.

What is the salary range?

This is dependent on each personal trainer and what they decide, but on average between 100-200 NIS per session (45 mins-1 hour)

What are the upcoming areas of specialty you would recommend?

Mind and body exercises as a means to improve physical and emotional health.

What recommendations can you offer the Oleh looking to work in this field?

If you are new to Israel, I would recommend first getting acquainted with the gym to see the different ways, culture, and methods of Israelis. This can help you figure out what kind of clients you are targeting and where to find them.
