Yavniel


Yavniel is an agricultural village established by the Jewish Colonization Association on lands bought by the Baron Rothschild, and initiated by villagers from Horan and Metula. In Yavniel, many organizations were established including the Israeli Farmers Union, the Galilee Squadron and the Golani Brigade.

Local Employment
Most residents work in agriculture or education in the area (or not far away). Some people also work in the local senior citizens' residential home. In addition, several individuals run bed and breakfasts.

Education / Youth
There are local preschool and 3 elementary schools in Yavniel- one is secular, the public religious school run by Chabad, and the Breslov school. Middle and high school students attend regional schools, and busing is provided.

Transportation
A car is recommended for residents of Yavniel, although intra-city public transportation is also available. Tiberias is twenty five minutes away, and Afula is a 30-minute drive.

Olim Services
The local Ulpan is in Tzemach just south of Tiberia. The community and schools are welcoming to new Olim. A number of English-speaking Olim have moved to Yavniel in the last five years.

Amenities / Services
Yavniel is ten minutes from Poriya Hospital, and five minutes from the regional hub of Tiberias.


Community and Religious Life
The community has a wide range of religious observance including secular, Orthodox, Breslov and Chabad. Sephardi, Temani and Ashkenazic Jews all live in Yavniel.

Real Estate
There are currently plots of land available for sale. A 450 square meter lot sells for around $60,000 (for the land).

Rentals are less easy to come buy, and are often found by word-of-mouth in this tight-knit community. It is more common to buy 2nd hand homes. As there are no apartment buildings and all homes are topped at two stories, the country feel of the community is preserved.

Three bedroom homes sell for approximately $200,000. There are some smaller projects opening up allowing the building of custom homes.

Yavniel's neighborhoods include Smadar, HaShlosha and Hashikun.
