Tel Mond


Founded over 80 years ago as a small agricultural village for Olim from Yemen, Tel Mond has had a rebirth in recent years, attracting young professional families who are looking for a quiet suburban life. Tel Mond has a dynamic blend of Orthodox, traditional, and secular Jews living in harmony as they raise their families in a warm, intimate community. In the past few years, a vibrant English speaking community has developed in the town.

Local Employment
Tel Mond has local businesses, but no office buildings. Most residents work outside of the community. Tel Mond is very accessible to work opportunities in the center of the country. There is also an office park in Kadima, 5 minutes away.

Education / Youth
A variety of Ganim (preschools) serve the community, including one for children with special needs. For religious students, the Mamad (a government-run, religious elementary school) has high standards for both Torah and general studies, and religious high school students generally commute to schools in Herzliya and Raanana. (The city provides transportation to Raanana.)

There are 3 secular elementary schools, which are all in one central location. There is also a middle school/high school in Tel Mond which services the secular community. Starting in elementary school, there are separate English classes in the school for native English speakers.

Both Bnei Akiva and Tzofim are active youth groups in the community. Tel Mond organizes joint programs for both secular and religious youth, which are sometimes recreational and sometimes educational.

Transportation
Although Tel Mond is centrally located and has access to train service, it is not advisable to plan to live in this community without a car. Tel Mond is a suburb where people depend on their cars, though bus transportation is available (infrequently) within the town.

Tel Mond is situated just off the Tel Aviv-Haifa Route 4, and a 15 minutes drive from the coast. The community is very close to the Bnei Dror intersection, a major transportation center. The train station is located in nearby Bet Yehoshua with regular service to Tel Aviv (20 minutes) and Haifa (50 minutes).

Olim Services
A family moving to Tel Mond can expect a warm welcome from the community. Residents are usually very helpful in helping new Olim. However, the town itself does not have the resources needed by most new Olim. A short distance away - in Netanya, Raanana, and Tel Aviv, all of the necessary services are available. Raanana, in particular, is a valuable resource for Olim who settle in Tel Mond; its absorption center offers wonderful services to Olim.

An Ulpan is scheduled to open in Tel Mond, so residents will not have to travel.

Amenities / Services
There is a local public library, banks, restaurants, supermarkets, and every other type of shopping that one might need. Clothing and furniture shopping is done outside of town, and major shopping is 10 minutes away in either Poleg or Raanana.

There is a local sports hall. Many residents use the pool in the neighboring community of Herut.

Community and Religious Life
Tel Mond residents invest in their community. They have a multi-million dollar Matnas (community center) that offers a wide range of classes for both children and adults, including an English-speaking drama group for both native English and Hebrew speakers. In addition, the building has a large social hall that is widely used for community activities. There are synagogues for the Moroccan, Persian, Yemenite, and Ashkenazi residents, as well as a community Mikveh. The Mevasar Tzion Synagogue tends to be the most popular amongst Orthodox English-speakers in Tel Mond.

90% of the homes in Tel Mond are semi-detached houses.

4 bedroom semi-detached homes: 2.5-3 million NIS

2,000 units (including 880 apartments) are currently being constructed. Apartment prices start at 2 million NIS.

Neighborhoods
Neighborhoods in this community are named after the major street names. The older area is called Etzim. The Kiryat Hinuch (education complex) is located in the Nahalim neighborhood. Most of the English speakers reside in Tziporim. The other  neighborhoods are called: Rigashot, Prachim and Avnei Chen.
