For the past sixteen years, the Mechina of Ateret Yerushalayim has been housed in Sha’arei Ha-Kotel (Gates of the Kotel) House, which is twenty meters from the Kotel Plaza. This building served in the past as a defensive position. The Jews were forced to abandon it following the Arabs riots of 5696.
The Mechina sees as its purpose the preparation of young men, from all strands of Israeli society, to love Torah and to be G-d-fearing. They follow in the footsteps of Maran (our revered teacher) Ha-Rav Avraham Yitzchak Ha-Cohain Kook and his son, our Rabbi Ha-Rav Tzvi Yehudah, in contributing to and integrating with Israeli society, in serving meaningfully in Tzahal and in joining in the building of Jerusalem.
The studies in the Mechina generally last between a year and a year and a half. During this period, the students dedicate themselves to learning Torah, with an emphasis on subjects related to their military service
